Membrane Heat Sanitizable Community Dialysis Unit

Canadian Water provided a replacement dialysis water treatment system for a client in Western Canada. This project upgraded the treatment system to include fully automated heat sanitization of the RO membranes, reducing the reliance on chemical sanitizations.

As with all dialysis projects, Canadian Water’s Medical Device License and ISO 13485 certification allows for seamless integration between the design, manufacture, installation, and operation of the unit, with the end users providing feedback throughout the process.

One of the key challenges was overcoming feed water with high amounts of colloidal silt. Canadian Water provided a device licensed ultrafiltration system that not only removes this silt but also offers improved levels of bacteria control.

A critical element of all dialysis projects is ensuring patients are exposed to water that is free of bacteria and endotoxin. The system features multiple physical barriers and levels of protection, allowing for continued operation and hassle free sampling to meet strict surveillance guidelines.
